Children
Whenever
family relationships break down, children and their welfare must
come first.
After
all, children are not responsible for the changes to their lives
when parents separate.
They
may suffer badly if they feel they are not being heard.
Often
they believe that the breakdown is their fault and feel guilty.
They
need to be kept informed of changes, and their concerns listened
to.
We can help you smooth the way forward and make appropriate arrangements
for your children.
We
believe that a child's wellbeing should be the central issue when
a family splits up, and our aim is to help parents make decisions
about where and with whom children live (Residence), when and how
they see the parent with whom they do not have their main home (Contact)
and how to resolve problems that may arise, such as which schools
they should attend, or if they should have special medical or dental
treatment (Specific Issues).
We
try to ensure that you and your partner are able to achieve a new
relationship as co-parents whilst moving away from your old relationship
together.
